Ministry
of Deaconess
Even so must their wives be grave,
not slanderers, sober, faithful in all
things
I Timothy 3:11
“Deaconess” means “servant.” The deaconess
ministry is one in which competent,
dedicated women serve the Lord and His people through providing spiritual care,
instruction in God’s Word, and acts of love. Deaconesses are specialists in
spiritual care. They join with the pastor and deacons in visiting
church members, assisting with the Baptismal ceremony and prepare communion for
worship service. Other activities of the deaconess include
sending cards to our sick and shut-in members and acting as liaisons to single
mothers in our community.
